Via Dept. of Streets & Sanitation's Snow Command

The City's Dept. of Streets & Sanitation has been out in force since yesterday evening, with 274 Snow Fighting Trucks out since 8:30pm Saturday, joining 184 that were called out earlier Saturday evening. Their full main fleet has been on the side streets plowing, spreading salt treated calcium chloride to help the salt work better at low temperatures and pushing back snow accumulations.

This is the 7th consecutive day that City Snow Fighting Trucks will have been on duty on roadways.

Remember, there will naturally be accumulations of snow as you get closer to your parked cars. Residents who shovel out around their cars should place that snow on the parkway. We’ve seen a lot of snow that has been cleared from cars pushed back into the street. We ask that people not do this. It is dangerous and creates more work for an already hard working fleet.

Don't forget to shovel your sidewalk! City law requires owners of homes, apartment buildings and businesses to shovel the snow in front of the property or business.
