ImageAccording to Alderman Shiller, "The most effective deterrent against either the public sector or the private sector's taking advantage of the public is education." 

During her tenure, Alderman Shiller has collaborated with elected officials to educate the public on their rights in dealing with both the public and the private sector. These collaborations have included:

  • Annual Tax Appeal workshops conducted jointly with the Cook County Assessor

  • Joint Theft Identification training for seniors with Attorney General Lisa Madigan

  • Immigration workshops with Congressman Jan Schakowsky

  • Annual Senior Fest including representatives from all relevant city agencies 

    • In addition, Alderman Shiller has conducted other trainings for ward residents, including: Image

    • Public law trainings for homeowner associations
    • Trainings for tenant boards of recently formed large cooperatives
