Alderman Shiller is a strong supporter of the Black Ensemble Theater.  She and BET founder Jackie Taylor continue to work together to shine a light on one of Chicago's hidden gems.

Alderman Shiller recognized that BET was quickly becoming so successful they had outgrown their longtime home on Beacon Street. Pulling together resources and support from around the city, Alderman Shiller continues to help facilitate BET's upcoming move into a new and bigger space on Clark Street.

BET and Alderman Shiller also recently teamed together to bring BET's Strengthening the Schools Through Theater Arts program to Uplift Community School.  Parents, students and members of the community all enjoyed the performance which focused on self esteem and respect for others.

BET has provided arts programming in other area schools for many years.
