For years, Alderman Shiller has been working with the city to get a senior satellite center placed in the ward.  The Department of Aging generally balked because the the high price of land in the ward.

Through persistence and collaboration, however, the Department of Aging is set to open a Hybrid Senior Satellite Center in conjunction with Truman College.

This hybrid satellite center will offer fitness classes, swimming and pool exercises, computer classes and more.

"In this day and age it is not sufficient to simply provide social places for retired people to congregate.  Our senior satellite centers need to provide technology and fitness opportunities so our seniors can continue to grow and develop," explained Ald. Shiller.
