Broadway: Grace to Clarendon This bike lane will connect to the existing bike lane on Halsted and the proposed bikeway on Clarendon and provide safe access for bicyclists to Gill Park and surrounding neighborhoods. A bike lane is a five-foot space on the roadway dedicated to bicyclists. Clarendon Avenue: Broadway to Wilson This bikeway will connect to the existing bikeways on Halsted and Wilson and provide safe access for bicyclists to the Clarendon Community Center, Lincoln Park, lakefront, and surrounding neighborhoods. Because there is not enough roadway width to establish dedicated bike lanes at this location, shared lane markings are proposed. Shared lane markings are used to identify wide curb lanes shared by both bicyclists and motorized vehicles. Wilson Avenue: Beacon to Malden This bikeway will connect to the existing and proposed bikeways on Wilson Avenue to the east and west of this location and provide safe access for bicyclists to the CTA Wilson Red Line Station, Truman College, and lakefront. Because there is not enough roadway width to establish dedicated bike lanes, shared lane markings are proposed at this location. No parking will be removed as part of these projects. CDOT expects these projects to improve safety and not significantly impact vehicular traffic operations. |
