Community Safety Alert 23rd District

ImageOn August 3, 2007, at 2:30pm, in the 700 block of W. Cornelia, a female victim was approached by an unknown male riding a blue bicycle who offered to help her carry her bags into her apartment.  The victim refused the offender's assistance.  The offender followed the victim into her apartment building and once inside began choking the victim.  The victim was able to break free and ran from the apartment and called the police.  The offender fled on his bicycle westbound on Cornelia toward Halsted Street.

The offender is described as a White male, 28-32 years old, 5'9" - 5'10", 175 lbs, brown hair,dark eyes, with facial hair and a medium complexion.  The offender was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt, dark shorts and was riding an older blue bicycle.

  • Carry your cell phone with you
  • Notify your friends and neighbors about this incident.
  • Report any suspicious person(s) or activities to 911
