Dear Concerned Community Citizen: The 23rd District Steering Committee is comprised of community volunteers, who by working and supporting the Town Hall Police District, ensure the development and continuation of youth activities. In the past, these activities have included promoting the Police Explorer Post #9923, youth softball, youth basketball and the Operation Mitten Project. In addition, the Steering Committee is responsible for the yearly maintenance of the bicycles utilized by the 23rd Bicycle Patrol Unit. At this time, we are preparing to host our Annual Needy Children's Holiday party for approximately 250 children from numerous schools and shelters throughout the 23rd District. The date will be Saturday, December 1, 2007, at 12:00 Noon in the James M. O'Connor meeting room at the 23rd District Station. Santa will greet each child with a stocking full of goodies. Each child will also receive a gift especially chosen for them which will be individually wrapped and personally labeled by Santa's Helpers. We alsoprovide each child with a winter hat and mittens. In order for us to continue these projects, as well as others throughout the year, we need your assistance with any donations you wish to make. Not only will it make this the Merriest Season for all the needy children of our District, but will also benefit all the children throughout the area. Any funds received above and beyond what is needed for this celebration will be used for various District youth activities throughout the coming year. Should you have any questions, please contact any of our Steering Committee members through the 23rd District Community Police Office at (312) 744-0064. Please call us to make arrangements for any pickups you may have. Your contribution will bring great joy to these children. Checks should be made payable to the 23rd Dist. Steering Committee and mailed to Dian Marsalek, 1108 W. Wellington, Chicago, Illinois 60657. We hope to hear from you soon May you and your loved ones enjoy a most Blessed and Joyous Holiday Season . Sincerely, Diann Marsalek |
