Winter Preparedness Fairs

ImageFind the resources you need to save money and keep warm this winter by attending one of Mayor Daley's Winter Preparedness Fairs. The City of Chicago, in conjunction with CEDA and local utility providers, is holding a series of events to provide one-stop-services to help Chicago residents prepare for the winter.

WHEN:  Monday, November 19, 2007 from 3pm to 8pm
WHERE: Truman College, 1145 W Wilson Ave.

 Learn how to reduce your heating bill by weatherizing your home or apartment

  • Apply for financial assistance programs:
    LIHEAP (Low Incoome Home Energy Assistance Program)
    STW (Share the Warmth)
    GSP (Good Samaritan Program)
    IHWAP (Illinois Home Weatherization Assistance Program
  • Check the status of a utility bill or pending grant application.
    (Peoples Energy, Commonwealth Edison, CEDA)
  • Speak with account representatives from Commonwealth Edison & People's Energy.
  • Learn about and apply for services offered by the City's departments
  • Receive a FREE home weatherization kit
  • All fairs are FREE of charge

If applying for utility assistance please bring:

  • Proof of total household income for 30 days prior to application
  • Copy of current heating bill
  • Proof of Social Security number for each household member
  • Proof of TANF (if currently receiving)
  • Rental agreement stating monthly amount (if currently renting)
