NHL Winter Classic Traffic Advisory

Closures on Waveland begin this week for the setup of the 2009 NHL Winter Classic at Wrigley Field on New Year's Day.

Chicago Blackhawks v. Detroit Red Wings at Wrigley Field on January 1, 2009, at noon.

Gates open at 10am.

Street Closures

  • Waveland north and south curb and sidewalk from 1035 W Waveland to 1011 W Waveland December 16, 2008, through January 7, 2009.  Traffic is maintained.
  • Sheffield closed from Addison to Waveland.

Parking & Parking Restrictions

  • No Parking is allowed on Clark Street, Newport to Irving Park Road December 31, 2008, at 6pm through January 1, 2009, at 8pm.
  • Residential Permit Parking Restrictions are NOT in effect (for night game only); however, motoriests should read signage before parking in the area.
  • The Remote DeVry Lot - located at DeVry University, near Addison and Western - is now available for this event. The #154 shuttle will operate from the DeVry lot to Wrigley Field two hours prior and two hours after the game.

CTA

  • Extra service will be added to accommodate crowds during event time on the following bus routes and rail lines:
  • #22 Clark - Buses will operate every 8 to 12 minutes.
  • #152 Addison - Buses will operate every 12 to 15 minutes.
  • #X80 Irving Park Express - Buses will oeprate every 12 minutes.
  • Red Line - Service will operate more frequently, every 6 minutes from 11am to 6pm, in both directions.
