On April 3, St. Augustine college is having an Open House to provide information on the bachelor's degree in social work (BSW).  Attendees will have an opportunity to meet with the faculty of the program, obtain a program manual that describes the degree requirements, and to meet with students currently in the program.

Forms for financial aid will also be available.  Light snacks will be provided, and attendees will be able to visit the facilities at the Argyle campus, located at 1345 W Argyle.  The time for the open house is 5:30pm to 7:30pm.  Free parking is available.

As you know, many people are suffering because of the economic downturn.  And while the economy is hurting many people, it is people who do not have a college degree who are experiencing the worst consequences of the recession.  Yet, even as the unemployment rate rises, there are job opportunities in the social work field.  However, social work is a challenging field, and a bachelor's degree is the minimal requirement for these positions.

It is also important to know that the federal government is increasing the amount of the Federal Pell grant for the coming school year.  Therefore, now is a very good time for students to take advantage of this improved benefit in order to improve their lives by earning a college degree.
