REMINDER: Take Your Household Hazardous Waste to a Safer Place

Exchange your household hazardous waste for environmental resources at these free City events.  Leftover household products that contain corrosive, toxic or reactive ingredients require special care when disposing becauset hey can pose a threat to our health and environment.  Rather than throwing them away or pouring them down the drain, bring them to one of our free collection days.

Saturday, May 9
9am to 3pm
DeVry University, 3401 N Rockwell Ave.
North Student Parking Lot

Drop-Off:

  • old or unused prescription and non-prescription medications
  • computers, cell phones, fax machines, scanners, keyboards
  • hazardous household chemical and lead or oil-based paints
  • DO NOT DROP OFF latex paint or working televisions (Visit cityofchicago.org/Environment for disposal options)

Pick-Up:

  • a compost bin.  $35 payable by check or money order only.  Available to Chicago residents only, while supplies last.
  • a rain barrel.  $45 payable by check or money order only. Available to Chicago residents only, while supplies last.
  • a FREE compact fluorescent light bulb while supplies last.
  • a $100 rebate towards a push or electric mower when youd rop off your gas powered mower.
  • a FREE environmentally-friendly gas can when you trade in your old one.
