Page 3 of 3 In speaking about privatization, I want to briefly discuss the inspector general. I still need answers in writing. If we are going to have a general that makes us feel like corruption is being dealt with, but he can't provide written information in terms of what he has found and what is actually being done, then his role is unclear. He needs to be clear. We need to see the effects he has on corruption, and if he can't provide, then maybe we should take back the three million we have allocated for the inspector general in our budget. We don't need to spend three million dollars if he isn't doing his job and if he can't provide results in terms of what is actually getting done. We have to move forward. It is important to focus on day-to-day survival needs of our constituents. We must keep that as a part of our program. We have to take these issues on ourselves before we can go to our constituents. Next year, if we don't don't get restructuring on a state level, we are going to have to do it. We are going to have to find a way to reorganize and restructure with the limited resources we have so that the needs of our constituents are met. It is up to us to talk to them about what is and isn't working and why. Every month to come, there will be things we have to discuss and debate about. We have to continue to work as a whole as we did during these budget hearings if we are going to get things done. Thank you. |
