The Illinois Commerce Commission passed legislation requiring Peoples Gas to offer rebates to customers who purchase high efficiency furnaces and boilers, hot water heaters, clothes washers, and insulation.  These rebates are offered through the Chicagoland Natural Gas Savings Program and apply to any installations from December 15, 2008 through October 31, 2009, with expectations for these rebates to continue.

Additionally, the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance, a nonprofit promoting energy efficiency, has created a list of contractors farmiliar with the rebates and the high efficiency equipment as a tool for residents.
