The Department of Buildings is pleased to announce that owners and property managers responsible for the maintenance and preservation of vacant properties can now easily register their properties at the Department of Buildings Vacant Property Web site, located at www.cityofchicago.org/vacantbuildings.

The new feature provides online forms and payment options to allow owners and property managers comply with the building code section that requires vacant properties to be secured and registered with the Department of Buildings. Owners and managers who chose to register online will also receive email updates when their registrations are close to expiring.

In addition, at the Department of Buildings' website found at www.cityofchicago.org/buildings, one can also use online web applications for E-Permitting, scheduling appointments, creating a permit application and check the status of an existing permit.
