ImageClark Street Streetscape / Montrose Avenue to Ainslie Street

Clark Street from Montrose Avenue to Ainslie Street will be improved as the City renovates the streets with infrastructure upgrades and decorative elements. These enhancements are part of a comprehensive streetscaping project designed by the City of Chicago Department of Transportation in close cooperation with community representatives, Alderman Shiller and Alderman Schulter.

The $7.4 million project consists of numerous aesthetic and architectural elements, including decorative lighting, stamped crosswalks, landscaped planters and community identifiers highlighting the Clark Street shopping district.

Traffic Impacts

Throughout construction, Clark Street will remain open to motorists and pedestrians and access to businesses and residences will be maintained. In order to keep the street open to traffic, parking will not be allowed in the area of active construction. In addition, there will be periodic parking restrictions on some side streets.

Work is scheduled to begin on the west side of Clark Street between Ainslie Avenue and Lawrence Avenue. Work will then continue along the west side of Clark Street to Montrose Avenue, then switch to the east side of Clark and proceed north to Ainslie Street.

Chase Park Raven Fest

Construction will be phased to avoid interference with the Chase Park festival scheduled for June 19th and 20th, 2010.

The CTA bus routes will not be affected. For more information, please call the CTA information hotline at: (all Chicagoland area codes) 836-7000.
