Even in today’s economy, aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners in Andersonville, Edgewater and Uptown can thrive, not just hope to survive. Access to the right resources and information is a critical success factor. To help local small businesses grow and create jobs, a free Small Business Resource Expo is being held on Friday, November 19 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Truman College, located at 1145 W. Wilson Avenue in Chicago.

“We are inviting valued small business owners and entrepreneurs to access resources vital to realizing their future in our communities,” said Tina Travlos Nihlean, President of Edgewater Development Corporation. Over 500 small business owners and entrepreneurs from Andersonville, Edgewater, Uptown and the greater Chicago area are expected to attend. This information-rich event will offer 15 relevant, small-business-focused general, panel and concurrent sessions, and numerous networking opportunities. Workshop topics to include : Achieving a Winning Brand Image; Uncovering Small Business Opportunities in Your Community; Healthcare Tax Credits; Alternative Financing Options and much more.

The Small Business Resource Expo is co-sponsored by Truman College, one of the seven City Colleges of Chicago and the third largest Adult Education program in the U.S., and Edgewater Development Corporation, a local, non-profit community organization. Supporters include the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce, Business Partners – The Chamber for Uptown, Edgewater Chamber of Commerce, Government Partnership for Economic Development, and Kellogg School of Management − Levy Institute for Entrepreneurial Practice.
